This may sound familiar. You're stressed, anxious, eating more because your body constantly craves snacks, and you tend to eat more sweets than usual. And obviously, you gain weight.
Even if you try to avoid junk food, you may still gain weight. And why? Stress can cause changes in metabolism that prevent us from burning fat as efficiently.
Stress blocks our ability to lose weight. It alters the behavior of our adrenal glands and our cortisol levels, so fats aren't converted into glucose (energy available for burning) but instead remain in our cells, resulting in, for example, that "belly" that's impossible to get rid of.
In addition, excess body fat can lead to excess estrogen, causing hormonal imbalances, especially in women.
You've probably tried many times to lose weight with extremely restrictive diets and excessive exercise, without achieving the desired results. Add to that the usual stress of everyday life, and it's a ticking time bomb for our bodies. You'll only significantly increase your appetite, trigger cravings, and end up eating anxiously, with no energy and a bad mood.
And what are the most effective ways to remedy stress and the weight gain it can cause?

First and foremost: sleep. We need to rest, and sleep is key to reducing the hormone cortisol (the stress hormone) and burning calories efficiently. When we don't get enough sleep, ghrelin, the hunger hormone, increases, and leptin, the satiety hormone, decreases, which, obviously, causes us to eat much more.
Try to establish a routine to sleep at least 7 hours a night and follow these tips:
