Spring asthenia, what it is and how to fight it

Yes, we're all looking forward to the good weather, more sunshine, longer days, and enjoying time with friends on the terrace...

In addition to all of the above, the spring equinox has another hidden sideIt's called asthenia.

You may not know what we're talking about. It's not well-known because, in the scientific community, there's much debate surrounding its existence, as it's not considered a disease, but rather an adjustment disorder. Since there's no disease, there's no treatment, neither pharmacological nor psychotherapeutic.

However, the symptoms are repeated, numerous, and can last up to two weeks. This is feeling of fatigue, lack of energy, difficulty sleeping or loss of appetite.

Why does it happen and how to prevent it? Read on.

WHY DOES SPRING ASTHENIA OCCUR AND WHO DOES IT AFFECT?

In addition to having to adapt to the new schedule, spring brings with it frequent temperature changes; we have cold days and others that are very hot. These contrasts can cause us to release histamine, especially in women, because estrogen (the female hormone) also promotes higher levels of histamine in the body.

Are there no other causes?

Yes, people who suffer from allergies, emotional disorders, low levels of Vit D accumulated in the winter, and poor intestinal microbiota are more likely to suffer from Spring Asthenia.

HOW CAN WE COMBAT IT?

There is no magic bullet or universal law, but there are a series of recommendations we can follow:

  1. Eliminate substances that are toxic for our body: alcohol, tobacco, excess of substances that excite us...
  2. Reduce stress and take time to disconnect: Organize your workday and reserve time to enjoy it naturalness and have those moments of disconnection.
  3. Do moderate exercise: If you've spent most of the winter "hibernating like a bear," your body suffers. We're made to move, and our genes expect that movement to express themselves properly.
  4. Get enough rest: You have to give the body space to repair itself, to adapt to the new circumstances of temperature, light, substances like pollen that are not abundant in winter... While you are eating and awake, there are other more important functions than repairing itself.
  5. Help yourself with a healthy diet.

Do not eat processed foods and try to incorporate echinacea, spirulina or propolis.

Also Help eat foods rich in vitamin C, such as currants, kiwi, the baobab or green vegetables, but be careful with citrus fruits, which cause higher levels of histamine in the body, and therefore should not be overused.

Also Helpn foods that have antihistamine properties or that reduce activity, such as saffron, black cumin, basil, thyme, chamomile, ginger, nettle, turmeric, garlic (especially black garlic), buckwheat (in bread, pasta or flour), or onion (especially the outer layers).

We hope it's a little clearer to you what Asthenia is, but above all, that you can take action to combat it and that, in the worst case, it's temporary.
